Louise Evans
Head Coach & Technical Director
Louise Evans is a highly experienced figure skating coach with more than 30 years of skating experience and over 20 years of coaching expertise across the United Kingdom and Canada. Originally from England and now based in British Columbia with her family, Louise is a Skate Canada Provincial Coach who is CanSkate Certified, CanPower Certified, and a qualified Bodyforth Pilates Instructor. She has dedicated her career to developing skaters from beginner level through advanced competitive and test pathways.
Before moving to Canada, Louise spent 11 years coaching in the UK, where she successfully guided numerous skaters through the national test program and built competitive squads that regularly competed at national events. She also served as Director of Choreography for annual skating productions and was appointed Lead Coach for Chelmsford Figure Skating Club’s national Team Challenge team, leading the club to multiple championship victories.
Since 2016, Louise has served as Head Coach and Technical Director of the Summerland Figure Skating Club in British Columbia. She oversees programming for more than 150 skaters, mentor’s coaches and trainee coaches, and works closely with parents, board members, and the wider community. A Skate Canada Provincial Coach, Louise has developed a strong competitive team whose athletes regularly attend competitions throughout the province. She is also responsible for choreographing and coordinating the club’s annual carnival, helping skaters achieve their goals both on and off the ice.
Allyse Smith
Club Coach
Allyse Smith brings over 15 years of skating experience to the ice, combining her passion for the sport with a dedication to helping skaters reach their goals. She is an NCCP Regional Coach Certified professional and holds a Star 1–5 Assessor Certificate. Allyse’s own skating achievements include Senior Bronze Freeskate and Dance and Partial Junior Silver. Known for her supportive and encouraging approach, she strives to inspire confidence, skill, and a lifelong love of skating in every athlete she coaches.
Brooke Mide
CanSkate CoachBrooke is an NCCP-trained CanSkate coach with three years of coaching experience and is
currently working toward her full NCCP certification this summer. She is also entering the final
year of her Bachelor of Health and Exercise Sciences at the University of British Columbia and
hopes to pursue a Master’s of Occupational Therapy with a specialization in pediatrics. Brooke is
passionate about applying her post-secondary education and knowledge of health, exercise, and
physical literacy to her coaching. She finds great joy in helping young athletes develop
movement skills, confidence, and an appreciation for lifelong physical activity. In addition to her
coaching qualifications, Brooke has completed the NCCP FUNdamentals Movement Skills
course, concussion awareness training, and is a certified SportsMedBC Sport Aid attendant with
experience in athletic injury management and taping techniques.
Brooke began skating with the Summerland Skating Club at the age of three and has remained a
dedicated member throughout her skating career. While pursuing her university studies, she has
continued to train and compete in figure skating, demonstrating perseverance, commitment, and
a strong passion for the sport.
